Course Description

The IRS issued Notice 2021-49 on August 4, which provides guidance on the ERC for the third and fourth quarters of 2021. This notice provides extensive changes and clarifications to the ERC program and planning opportunities for businesses that can qualify for this valuable credit.

Alan Gassman and Brandon Ketron will discuss the fundamentals of the ERC program rules, how these are impacted by IRS Notice 2021-49, and rules that apply for shuttered venues and other specialized forms of CARES act borrowers. Alan and Brandon will also review important deadlines, checklists for compliance, and associated planning opportunities.

  • Identify whether wages paid to majority owners and their spouses are eligible for the ERC

  • Define what a "Recovery Startup Business" and a "Severely Financially Distressed Employer" are and what special rules apply to these businesses

Our firm was formed in 1987 with one lawyer and a shared secretary and receptionist to provide representation to professionals, business owners and retirees in their estate and related tax and personal planning, business and corporate needs.

Since then we have grown to 6 lawyers and over 20 staff, which we have found over the past two decades to be the best size for us. We are very proud of our team, our systems, and our dedication to providing the best and most appropriate legal services for all clients, whether big or small. Our lawyers meet together almost every morning to discuss and work together on cases, strategies and practice improvement projects in order to work the most efficiently and effectively for our clients. We like what we do and enjoy working together.
