Course Description

We will review IRS requirements for donations of non-monetary contributions and  how to obtain IRS qualified appraisals by a qualified appraiser.  Many CPAs rarely see an 8283 for non-monetary contributions.  We will discuss current law under TCJA and ways clients can take advantage of tax deductions while helping the environment and nonprofit organizations.  The course will include tax requirements for both individual and corporate tax payers.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review IRS requirements for non-monetary (personal property) charitable contributions including changes in TCJA.

  • Define and discuss IRS requirements for Qualified Appraisals from Qualified Appraisers.

  • Guidance for tax planning strategies for individual and corporate tax payers to consider donation of materials and personal property as well as a discussion of tax deduction potential for both classes of tax payers.

  • Learn how CPAs and tax professionals can help clients to take this valuable deduction with proper documentation ensuring IRS compliance.
