Course Description

With the cost of higher education on the rise, CPAs working with individual clients have the opportunity and responsibility to help clients understand how education costs factor into their big picture financial plan. This webinar will serve as the foundation piece in which CPA financial planners can learn the basics of college planning and how they can begin to incorporate these services into their practices. The course will discuss how to approach college savings vehicles, the financial aid system, student loans, and different strategies associated with the planning areas involved at a minimum.

Learning Objectives

  • The fundamentals of college planning and student loan advising along with how the financial aid system works.

  • How to advise students and families on navigating the college planning process through academic planning, tax planning, financial aid planning, and cash flow planning strategies.

  • How to work with clients (and other advisors) no matter what stage in the education planning process they are in.
