Course Description

As more and more states continue to legalize the medical and adult use of cannabis, some of your client may be surprisingly curious about going into cannabis: buying an old farm and cultivating (including hemp), opening a dispensary or perhaps releasing a CBD-infused pet friendly edible product line.  In this webinar Co-Founders of BC Consulting, Ben Condon, CPA and Joe Bailey, CPA, will provide a broad overview of cannabis taxation.

Ben is a proud native of the Pacific Northwest, born in Washington and grew up in Oregon. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Oregon. Ben has been an active CPA in the state of Oregon since 2008. He has extensive business tax experience focusing on corporate and flow-through entities.  He has a combined 9 years of Big 4 experience at Ernst & Young and Deloitte. He has served clients ranging from large multistate, multinational Fortune 500 companies through small startups and almost every size in between. His clients have spanned various industries including commercial and residential real estate, manufacturing, private equity funds, hedge funds, biotech, and high-tech. He is eager to put his broad and unique skillset to assist clients within the cannabis industry. When Ben isn’t serving his clients or enjoying their products, he enjoys traveling (34 countries and counting), craft beer and coffee, snowboarding, music festivals, camping and hiking, and going to Ducks, Blazers and Timbers games.  In addition to his CPA, he is also certified yoga teacher and scuba diver.

Joseph Bailey is a partner at BC Consulting. Prior to this, he had more than 10 years of experience working at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, and New Era CPAs. During this time Joe experienced many facets of taxation and business management, from international to individuals to entities, cannabis companies to Fortune 500 corporations, and everywhere in between. Joe has been directly assisting the cannabis industry since late 2015 and loves to work with his clients to bridge the knowledge gap between the old cannabis industry and the new influx of strict business practices that have become standard with legalization.   

Joe has a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University San Marcos and is an Oregon Certified Public Accountant.

Joe is married, has two daughters, and spends his time away from the office with his family out on adventures.
