Course Description

With the IRS infused with new funding, the focus on collection efforts is at the forefront of new activities. The Automated Collection System (ACS) has changed and is constantly evolving and many of your tax resolution collection cases may get resolved at the Automated Collection System level of the IRS. Knowing the "ins and outs" of negotiating with ACS is crucial to getting your clients the best possible deal with the IRS and will make you look like a hero to your clients.

Learning Objectives:


  • Outline how to submit financial forms 433F and 433-A to ACS

  • Recognize when to request a collection hold and when to use form CP504 vs. a 1058 notice

  • Evaluate how to work with ACS agents

  • Identify first time penalty abatement requests

  • Outline how to request an installment agreement that will be approved
